AL INMON FORD SALES Malakoff, Texas model A4578-7 model A4577M-7 Garden Club Plants Tree At Malakoff Members of the Malakoff Garden Club planted a tree on the Malakoff High School campus Friday morning and dedicated it to the school in observance of arbor day. The tree was furnished by the Malakoff Garden Center. Participating in the dedication were Mrs. i,. R. Cliver, president of the garden club, and Mrs. Marion Marshall, Mrs. PhiLlip Hatton, Mrs. Rita Currington, Mrs. Marles Drake, Mrs. C. O. Dodson, Mrs. Eddie Garrison, Mrs. Eddie Soma, and Mrs. G. V.Walker. Mabank School Closed After Bomb Threat Kaufman County Sheriff Roy Brockaway and officers of his department were searching the two Mahank school buildings shortly before noon Monday after a telephoned bomb threat. Sheriff Brockaway said the caller was an adult, a male. "He was not excited or alar- med," the sheriff said. "He talked just as sensible as anyone andhe did all the talking. He said there was a bomb in the school, three sticks of dynamite, and he said it would go off at noon." The sheriff said the man did riot say where the bomb is supposed to be hidden, but he did say it was "in a locker near the principal's office." There are two schools, the junior and senior high and a nearby elementary school buildinR. Mabank school officials sent all students home for the day and joined officers in the search of both buildings One school employee said the call probably is a prank but added that were doing the only thing we can do and taking every precaution Sheriff Brockaway said the call was received about 10:15 am Athens Church [g zlzkzlff gfi Offers Help to Kemp Woman The Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Athens has taken up offerings to assist the Capps family of Kemp, plagued by troubles since October 9 of 1969. The troubles began for Mr. and Mrs. James Capps when 14- month-old Mary Darlene Capps died of a heart attack. Their 5- year-old son, Tommy Nolan Capps, died almost a year later to the day when he was hit by an automobile. James Capps, 36, was killed by an automobile December 26 while hitchhiking to his job at I)an__u. He had no insurance and was not eligible for social securRy. Fellow workers took up a purse of 895 for him and Mrs. CaLpp:s said it was used to pay bills. Her husband's last ycherk of 892.47 was spent fore she got it. Mrs. Capps has no income and is too ill to work. She has two more children, James Edward, I, and Barbara Christine, 6. Mrs. Capps said she didn't know what to do and has had all she can bear. Fred Creecy, president of the First National Bank at Kemp, said he would accept con- trbutlons from anyone wishing t o htlp her.
