Eubank Ambulance Ser-
vice will start a membership
drive immediately in an
attempt to get ambulances
located in the county,
Eubank said. He said that
an ambulance would be
assigned to the county for
each 1,700 membership
enrollments, which cost $25
for families and $15 for
individuals.
Eubank already has
approximately 1,900
ambulance service member-
ships on the north end of
Cedar Creek Lake, he sai,
anti "probably 90 per cent "
of those are in Henderson
County. Those member:
ships, obtained last year are
expiring now. he indicated,
and a general drive will be
started to re-enroll those
existing members and obtain
additional memberships.
In answer to a question,
Eubank said that he does
not plan to seek any kind o
subsidy for the Henderso
County service. Eubank ha
recently received a subsid

enough memberships for one

would still operate in the
countys, but that there
would certainly be delays at
time reaching people.
Commissioners agreed
they would endorse the
Eubank membership drive,
but stopped short of
recommending it as the only
service in the county.
At present, Paschal
Funeral Home in Malakoff
provides ambulance service
to the surrounding area, and
Don Pasc.hal and Jerry
Hinkle have indicated they
have no intention of
discontinuing the service.
Eubank said that the
membership would provide
"free" ambulance service as
often as medically necessary
in a 50 mile radius, but
would also include runs to
hospitals in Dallas, Tyler,
Jacksonville and Corsicana
even though they might be
beyond the 50-mile limit•
Non-members will be
charged a $50 base fee plus
$1 per mile one-way from
pickup point to destination,
be said. In addition there
will be charge for any special
equipment used, such as
oxygen, splints, etc.
The service will use
trained Emergency Medical
Technicians. He said he
anticipates a dispatch
arrangement through the
Henderson County Sheriff's
Office.
