Malakoff, Texas further that the local school re" ceived $14,20105 in State and Federal Aid as compared to $7,- 492.58 from local taxes. One- half of the, local tax is used to retire bonds which leaves $3,746.- 27 available for school purposes derived from local sources. The above figures show that the State pays toward the support of the school four times as much as the local district. One concern alone pays a tax of some $3,500.- 00, almost one-half of the entire tax. In the event that the taxes are paid, school officials express themselves as being very opti- mistic as to next years school. If this is done and quality of goods compared it will be found that it is a case of trying to lift yourself by your bootstraps. There is no easy way to secure goods for a figure than they can be su by the experienced business man of Malakoff.
