PAGE 10B, ,, - The. Malakoff News - Wednesday,. May 2, 2001 Trimble seeks re-election to Malakoff ISD Board Homer Ray Trimble, a veteran member of the Malakoff Independent School District Board of Trustees releases the following statement on behalf of his candidacy for re-election to the school board on Saturday, May 5, 2001. i f I respectfully ask for your vote to re-elect me to the Malakoff Board of Trust- ees. I pledge to adhere to the following educational and ethical standards: * The educational welfare of all children within the district regardless of race, creed, sex or social standards will always be my priority. * Make certain that the MISD Board remains responsive to the community and taxpayers within the district: *Be supportive of the administrative personnel and staff members of each school as it relates to their performance of their roles and responsibilities. (Support the continuation of fully paid insurance for MISD personnel.) The evidence of my previous and past experience as a board member repre- sents my capability to continue serving the MISD and its community. I will work diligently to improve our current conditions and embrace the challenges of our future. It is my aspiration to implement a plan to future fund a school within the Tool area. This school would house kindergarten through 3 ro or 5 'h grade. The benefit of a school in this area eliminates the long bus ride for our chil- dren. The numbers will have to increase so We can have at least 16 students per grade. Trimble is for a fair athletics program for both girls and boys and continues to support Title IX of the Education Amendments fo 1972 and the Equal Protection Clause of the 14 th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution. "One of the things that I have advocated for many years is the uniformity among all of our athletic programs. I strongly believe that if we purchase uniforms for one group we should purchase uniforms for all groups. This includes our cheerleader squads." ....... Trimble feels that we need to keep the Malakoff ISD Board diverse, because it has been a key to the success of MISD and adds community support. He has served 25 years on the Malakoff ISD Board; and currently serves as Vice President. He also represents MISD as a member of the Legislative School Board Advocacy. During his tenure he has served as Board Presi- dent, and five different times as Vice President within his 25 years of service. He is a native of Malakoff, a graduate of Lincoln High School of Malakoff and Fairfield Barber College. He is very actively involved in various community and church relations. He serves as the president of the t Malakoff Dad's club and the Antioch and Steen Cemetery Association. He is a deacon, financial secretary and chairman of the building committee of the Antioch Baptist Church. He has been appointed to the Henderson County Citizens Advisory Committee to assist in the reapportionment process for 2001 by the commissioners Cour, He is employed by ExxonMobil torporauon as a right of way technician, and was the President of ()il Chemical International Union for 5 years. He is the owner of..several rental properties and previous owner of a grocery store and barber shop. i He is married to Rosie marie Trimble and has five children, City Council/Mayor Pro Tem Timmy Trimble, Meta,. June, Angela and Eric, all graduates of MISD. He has six granddaughters, Destiny, Sumiko, and RaKesha, gradu- ,. ates of MISD and students at UNT-Denton, and Alexandria Tiffany and LaPorsha. He has two great grafidsons, Sederic and Peyton. What is a requirement for a good board member? One who cares about people, and I do. If elected I will serve you to the best of my ability and for the betterment of the children, the school, and the : .:: community. , t L,{ : Mark #7 Homer Ray Trimble For The Malakoff ISD Board Political Ad Paid for by Homer Trimble J
