Mr. and Mrs. J. Arvin Johnson of
Malakoff have announced the
engagement and approaching
marriage of their daughter, Jeanette
Ann to Wesley Dewayne Holt, also of
Malakoff.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter
of Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Hallmark of
Malakoff, Mrs. Nellie Johnson of
Haltom City, and the great-
granddaughter of Mrs. Bessie Zack-
meyer of Malakoff.
The future bridegroom is the son of
Mrs. Delores Holt of Malakoff and the
late Milburn Holt. He is the grandson of
Mr. and Mrs. Percy McLain and Mrs.
Gladys Holt of Malakoff.
The wedding will take place on
Saturday, July 11, at 7 p.m. at the First
Baptist Church Malakoff. A reception
will be held immediately following the
ceremony in the fellowship hall. All
friends and relatives are invited to at-
tend.
The bride-elect will be a spring
graduate of Malakoff High School and
will be attending Navarro Jr. College in
the fall. She is currently employed by
Perry Bros. in Malakoff.
The prospective groom is a 1978
graduate of Malakoff High School and
attended Stephen F. Austin State
University. He is currently employed
by Texas Power & Light Co.
The couple will make their home in
Corsicans.
MHS Honor Rolls announced
The honor rolls for the fifth six-weeks
at Malakoff High School were announ-
ced today.
There are two separate honor rolls.
The "A" Honor Roll consists of students
who have earned a grade of 90 or above
in each subject. The "B" Honor Roll is
composed of students who have earned
a grade of 80 or above in each subject.

A 9-hour Jerry Lewis Skate-a-than to
benefit the Muscular Dystrophy
Association (MDA) is set for Saturday,
May 23 at Athens Skate Palace, accor-
ding to Jean Ikner, rink owner.
Registration for participants begins
at 11 a.m. Skating will begin at noon
and continue until 9 p.m. Prizes will be
awarded immediately following the end
of the event.
First prize is a trip to Six Flags Over
Texas - four tickets donated by
Malakoff Food Fare and a tank of gas
from Mini-Mart. Second prize is a
Realistic AM/FM Radio Headphone set
donated by Sean Lawler, East Texas
MDA Poster Child who lives in
Malakoff. Third prize is a pair of roller
skates donated by Athens Skate Palace.
In addition, bonus prizes donated by
local merchants will be given away to
sponsored skaters through special
hourly drawings. Top prize winners will
be invited to appear on the Jerry Lewis
Labor Day Telethon broadcast from
KLTV in Tyler.
Malakoff resident C.O. (Pete) Dad-
son, long noted in the area for his volun-
teer work and contributions to help his
community and individuals, has been
cited by both the Texas Senate and
House.

TEXAS SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Mr. C.O. "Pete" Dodson
served from 1948 to 1980 as
a
distinguished and devoted member of
the Board of Directors of Henderson
County Junior College, and during that
time witnessed the steady growth of
the college from 200 students to the
more than 3,100 students now enrolled;
and
WHEREAS, Mr. Dodson as a mem-
ber of the Board was particularly in-
terested in providing an opportunity for
the financially disadvantaged to
receive an education; under his
guidance the vocational departments of
the college flourished, providing
numerous students with the educational
preparation needed to begin their
careers; and
whereas, This outstanding man's
contributions to Henderson County
Junior College were even more in
evidence when he served for several
years as its President; and
WHEREAS, Very active in civic and
community affairs, Mr. Dodson has
