Its first pastor was Tom Johnson. Since that fateful day, the church has grown to over 250 members and has built a fine physical plant at the corner of Smith and Pine Streets. The present pastor is Rev. C.P. Benner, Jr. The church holds Sunday School st 9:45 a.m. and morning worship at 10:55 each Sunday. Training ser- vice is at 6 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. worship hour. The church started out in a small auditorium with two classrooms. Its membership labored that first winter and the Spring of 1956 to get it completed. Since then, the members have added six Sunday School rooms, a fellowship hall, a new larger auditorium and equipment. The church now has a parsonage also. The church has an active Girls Missionary Auxiliary, Men's Brotherhood and Women's Missionary Society groups. About The Pastor ,\\; i :  Rev. C,P, Benner, Jr.was called by Parkview Baptist Church as pastor in the morning service, May 23, 1976. He preached his first sermon as pastor in the evening service the same day. Born April 22, 1935 at Gatesville, Texas, Bro. Benner was Born Again on the third Sunday of Septem- ber, 1964, at Northside Bap- tist Church in Ennis. He was ordained a deacon by Anthony Drive Baptist Church in Ennis on Dec. 16, 1973. August 18, 1974 and was licensed to preach by Anthony Drive Church on Sept. 4, 1974. He preached at Parkview in view of a call on April 25 of this year. He will be ordained to the gospel ministry on June 20 by Anthony Drive Church of Ennis. Bro. Benner is married and he and his wife, Barbara, have five children. Their daughters are Sally, Lisa, Mary and Peggy. They have a son, C.P. Benner III.
