The Department of Public Safety
today estimated that as many as 44 per-
sons may die in Texas traffic accidents
during the upcoming July 4th weekend
unless drivers exercise extreme
caution.
Colonel Jim Adams, DPS Director,
urged motorists to maintain safe
driving habits during the holiday to
fatalities," Adams said. "We can put a
stop to this dangerous trend if more
motorists will ilow down, refrain from
drinking and use the most readily-
available safety precatuion - seat
belts."
