~A--The Malakoff News, Thursday, July 14, 1983 L Malakoff . Life . Home . Bonds . Auto . Commercial JERRY GARRISON 489-0512 The Malakoff Kindergarten Depar- tment is trying a new technique in pre- testing prospective students. Wed- nesday, July 6 and Thursday, July 7, an attempt was made to contact all pre- registered kindergarten students. Friday, July 9th, 38 students were tested. The pre-testing was done in order to alleviate many hours of time con- suming testing the first few days of school Each child was tested in- dividually. This enabled the teacher and new student a chance to get to know each other on an individual basis. If the school was unable to contact you (Telephone contact was made) and your child was pre-registered, another attempt will be made prior to the start of school. If you have a five year old or know of any child in the area that will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 1963, please pre-register them before school starts if at all possible. The elementary school will be open any week day for pre-registration after August 1. If you have any questions concerning kindergarten pre- registration or the pre-testing program before August 1 you may contact Mrs. Barbara Crouch, 489-0201. Kindergarten testing of students enables teachers to see where each child is skill wise -- this then better qualifies the child's teacher in setting up their programs to meet the needs of each child. Other types of testing are done when school starts. The school nurse checks for eye and ear problems, the speech teacher tests for vocabulary and speech problems. Testing in kindergarten is a way of trying to get a head start on any problems for a better learning situation and a happy, well adjusted child in school. To pre register please bring your child's birth certificate and im- munization records with you. Classified Ads .i~ ~ii i . / :?il, MRS. GREGORY STEPHEN PRICE auzat !:i i+ ?, SPRING CREEK R.V.
