Friday, July 31,2015 - The News -Page 3 Special to The News CEDAR CREEK LAKE-The Rootseekers Genealogical Society are always eager to hear mem- ber Bob Stokes give a talk. He and his wife, Pat, came all the way from the Dal- las area so he could tell us about how to use Google Image. Bob got interested in Google Image when his grandson, Keenan, who at the time was studying at the Moscow State Univer- sity in Russia, sent him some pictures of Moscow. The only problem the grandson did not say what the pictures were of. Bob says its the same thing as face recognition. when the computer looks at the most distinguishing characteristics of the face, eyes, nose, chin, ears and so on. Buildings, rivers. mountains, bridges also. COURTESY PHOTO Rootseeker member Bob Stokes (left) receives an Award of Appreciation for all the years of hard work in the organization from first V.P. Bob's picture tumed out be Saint Basil's Cathe- dral on Red Square. Most of us have never noticed the Image on the Google search page. This is such an amazing thing and we are so glad Bob shares his knowledge with us. Bob Stokes has been a faithful member of Rootseekers for 19 years. He was As- sistant Director of Sec- ondary Schools and Deputy Assistant Superin- tendent In Charge Of All Data Processing Services for the district.
