THE
New Tiger mentor Dale Norris
welcomed 55 players to the 1981 football
season Monday morning as two-a-day
workouts began, signaling the official
opening of the schoolboy season. More
players are expected to report to the
Tiger camp as the workouts continue
until school begins.
The first two workouts Monday were
used as a crucial learning period as the
players acquainted themselves with the
new system and the new coach on the
block began to familiarize himself with
his new athletes. The Tigers were also
busy learning their new offensive game
plan for the upcoming season-the Wish-
bone offense. By the evening practice
session the Tigers were beginning to
grasp the new offense, giving all in-
dications that a smooth transition
period lies ahead.
All, but one, of the l0 lettermen from
last year's 7-3 squad reported to
training camp. Returning for their
senior campaign are Tom Byers, Joe
Campana, Todd Monroe, Billy
Whiteley, Vic Kirkland, James
Jackson, Russell Tarver, Ron Denis
and Kyle Kilman. This group will be the
pivotal factor as to whether or not the
Tigers are to break the 3t-year old
drought without a district champion-
