Fried Steak 35c Roy Weir left Sunday morning Season Last Thursday e The 1931 training season of the Malakoff High School Ti ers got under way last Thursday with two trmning periods during the day. Coach J. D. Waller ar- rived in the city Wednesday af- ternoon direct from the coachi n g school at Abilene and went to work immediately after his ar. rival in assembling all available laaraphernalia and gettin ac- quainted with the youngsters who are desirous of becoming members of his team for the coming veer. Since the initial workouts on Thursday two practice periods have been held daily with each session becoming even more strenous than that of the pre- ceeding day. Coach Waller comes to Malakoff from four years-- of College work at Texas Tech at Lubbock during which- time he made for himself a record as a star of the gmdiron He comes with the best of references and his work with the boys since his arrival has convinced both the citizenship and the football as- pirants, that the right man has been selected for the right place. Coach" Waller invites every high school boy to attend the two daily practice workouts, and promises that each will be given ample opportunity to show his "stuff". The game of football, declares the coach, is not a hard game within itself, but the hard part rather lies in the prepara- tions before the game, therefore if the team is to be succnssful, it is necessary that much hard work he done during the pre- season training and rigid train- ing rules be observed. Coach Waller says that if the boys will stay with him in training that pleasing results will be obtained with the local eleven this year. : = = = ,, i _ = THIS WEEK IN HISTORY Monday, Sept, Z--Ft. THATGOOD "White Magic" FLOUR Weir's Drug Store Entered By Prowlers During Night Sunday Roy I. Weir's drug store suf- fered a small loss in cash and merchandise Sunday night after t theives had gained entrance into the huildimz by breaking one of the rear side windows The amount of cash missing when the store was opened for business Monday morning, was between seven and eight dollars in I en- hies and small change, which had been left in the cash drawers from Sunday's sales. Aside from the broken window through which the unwelcome visitors had gained admittance to the store, the inside door to hallway leading to Dr. Fowler's office, and also a window in the office was found open when the store was opened Monday. It is supposed that these openings were made as another mode of escape in case they should be trapped while in the building. nee | i FIRST NATIONAL Member Federal Reserve System Malakoff Woman Robbed In Fort Worth Sat.
