III SPAGHETTI DINNER: The Knights of
Columbus at St. Boniface Church in New
Dixie will host a spaghetti dinner from 4-
7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13 in the parish hall.
Tickets are $6 for adults, $3.50 for children
and free for children under 6.
II NEW COUNCIL: St. Albert Parish in
Heber Springs recently formed a council for
the Knights of Columbus.Council 12778 was
the only new council formed for the jubilee
year.The council currently has 34 members.
State deputy Max Nutt recently presented
the council with a charter during an installa-
tion of officers.
• MLK MASS: The 13th annual Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Mass will be
held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 13 at the
Cathedral of St. Andrew in Little Rock. Music
will be provided by the choirs of St.
Augustine Church in North Little Rock, St.
Peter Church in Pine Bluff and St.
Bartholomew Church in Little Rock.
During the Mass, the Daniel Rudd Award
~vill be given to a Catholic who has served
the black community and the Church. This
person was selected by the Diocesan
Council for Black Catholics and approved by
Bishop J. Peter Sartain. A reception will fol-
low in McDonald Hall. For more information,

• FEAST DAY: Bishop J. Peter Sartain
celebrated the feast of Our Lady of
Guadalupe Dec. 11 by visiting St. Francis of
Assisi Church in Forrest City. A dinner was
held in honor of Bishop Sartain. Joining him
was Father Scott Friend, diocesan director of
Hispanic ministry, and officials from the
Federal Correctional Institution in Forrest
City.They included warden Marvin Morrison,
associate warden Hector Ledezma, associate
warden Michael Morris, chaplains Beverly
Ford and Howard Collier, and chaplain
helper Michael Peckham. Others attending
included Sisters Maria DiAngeli and Kimberly
Prohaska of Helena, and parish council presi-
dent Roy Broussard.
The group visited the prison to celebrate
a candlelight procession and Mass in honor
of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
