Are they meant of us today or for just those Jesus was addressing at the immediate time and place? We receive com- mands every day. We are commanded to stop, go for- ward, to walk or not to walk across streets. We are com- manded to support our vari-, ous governmental agencies with out loyalty, our money and sometimes our time. It is given by someone who is has the au- thority or is authoritative. No one has ever had or will ever have the authority as Jesus. In Matthew 28:18, Jesus told us that "All power (or au- thority) is given unto me in heaven and in earth." With that in mind lets look at the three commands we find in the above Scripture. First, God has commanded not requested or suggested but commanded that all (no one excluded) repent. Re- pentance is not an option. Repentance is vital to our salvation because this means that we have made a complete turn around in our commitment, lifestyle, and way of thinking. It is vitally important to us that are be- lievers because we must repent each time we sin. Hence, this is a daily part of our worship experience with the Lord. God com- manded it and as Christians we have no other decision to make or consider but to immediately obey his com- mand. Second, in Mark's Gospel, Jesus commanded us to be- lieve. This we cannot ignore. Believe without any reserva- tions. Believe by totally abandoning our own desires, plans, wishes, goals, and ide- als and placing ourselves completely in his care. The type of belief Jesus was speaking of was immediate, simple, trusting, without lim- its, constrains, or conditions. Is your believe in this area of understanding? Third, in I John 3, we are commanded to believe in the gospel and love one another. You cannot separate these two commands. One requires the other. It is evident that some have placed some types of qualifications on believing the gospel because they have difficulty of lov- ing other believers. This is obvious when it come to the part of the model prayer when Jesus told the disciples to "forgive one another as God has forgiven us." Today we have a selective forgive- ness which is not Biblical. Love has no real limitation or qualifications when it is done in and through the Lord. Read the commands and then see how you are do- ing along these lines. Reppond's Round-Up ContinuedJ00om page 4/1 ;hot yet, they will be out at the rember. I haven't but will be in line that day. We surely don't want to have the flu. I heard yesterday that one of the older seniors that used to come to the center when I first started going, had died. He was Don Newman. He was in the nursing home at the time of his death. He was 95 years of age. Our condolences go his chil- dren. The only child that I knew of was a daughter named Vio- let. Her husband died a short time ago, and now her father. Our prayers are for you, Violet. This unbelievable weather just keeps going, and going, like the Pink Bunny. Of course there were 2 or 3 days of summer like weather thrown in, but the nights are perfect. The leaves are beginning to color up too, so look tothank' J] McCool for sending me the laminated ar- ticle and picture of my grand- daughter. It was the engage- ment announcement. I save one but mine would have soon turned yellow - hers will keep forever. Joan has been doing this for years. I know everyone ap- preciates it, Joan, you are a very nice lady. This time next week, the time will have changed again. The real reason for this change is to mess with peoples minds, es- pecially us older people? Don't they know that we are afraid of change? I think I will set my clocks bak tonight and start practicing. Reckon that will help me? Take care and I will be here next time, same place. GOD BLESS AMERICA?
