This change, made effective on or before October 1, 1981, requires that the cost noted above be charged to current operations. Previously these costs were capitalized and spread over the average life of this asset. The effect of this change on Gulf States-United Telephone Company is that it will increase current operating expenses by an amount large enough that the company must adjust its service connection charges over a two year period. This is necessary so that adequate revenue will be available at the time the expenses are recorded to offset this additional operating cost and will be recovered from only those customers who bring about the cost. Gulf States-United Telephone Company has filed a petition with the Public Utility Commission of Texas for approval of the following changes in its service connection charges: Present Proposed Element Residence Business 1/1/82 1/1/83 Service Order Charge $19,00 $ 22.25 $ 21.75 $ 29.00 Record Order Charge 11.25 13.00 11.00 11.00 Central Office Charge 2.80 3.25 6.95 9.25 Line Access Charge '7.60 9.00 18.60 24.80 Station Wiring Charge 3.20 4.00 7.85 10.45 Station Equipment Charge 3.65 4.25 8.90 12.00 Trip Charge 3.75 4.25 8.40 11.25 Local Loop (Non Switched) 35.00 35.00 50,00 50.00 Mobile Telephone Installation 100.00 100.00 125.00 150.00 Prewiring Charge First Jack A/R A/R 25.00 30.00 Each Additional A/R A/R 14.00 16.00 A/R - As Required Please note that the proposed service connection charges are the same for business and residence.
