Wednesday, December 5, 2001 - The Malakoff News - PAGE 7B (2hris.tmas Shopping in Malakoff It's the third week we've been finding girls you can buy right here in Malakoff. This week we need to talk a little about gifts the recipients can choose for themselves. There is lots of won- derful "stuff' 'to buy right here in Malakoff, but we have to admit some folks have all the "stuff" they can handle. Or some folks have so many needs it would be a shame to buy them something that they couldn't use. Ruby Davis' article, page 6B covers those pretty well. One of the best gift certificates, of course, is money. We have two banks here that will furnish you with nice, crisp bills and gift envelopes. Or you could start sav- ings accounts for all your grandkids. I don't think the gift of a good meal would ever be turned down. Lots of times the best thing would be to take somebody you care about out to dinner. But then, a young couple on a strict budget might really appreciate a gift certificate for a meal out together. We've got several good places they could go right here in Malakoff. Anybody would love a gift certificate for a mas- sage from Peggy at Peggy's Electrolysis and Massage. Or maybe they would like to have some un- wanted hair removed. Per- sonally, if they haven't men- tioned they have unwanted hair, I think I'd go with the massage certificate. I finally got pictures of some of the good stuff you can find at the MalakoffCrafier's Mall. There are gift baskets, some wonderful candles, all sorts of school mascot and colors stuff. Lots of floral swags and wreaths, both Christmas and year round. And all sorts of handmade goodies, including some neat iron accessories made by Johnny Jackson. I liked the spur bookends and cactus lamo. Ee,k"a's dadi:Smtos Rochas of ', . 7.,:L 4.'.' I1- Jlt Malakoff Plumbmgpltnildlf'earl.neat founiai qjit@ a watering can perpetually pouring into a tub. You can always find some nifty last-minute things at Brookshire's. They are already making up fruit baskets and packages of baked goodies. Also they have some huge stuffed tigers lurking over the plant department that any Malakoff stu- dent would love to own. Both shops also have good used movies for sale at low prices. If you haven't discovered the delights of our Dollar Store, it's time you did. They have a lot of good stuff in there. One of the cutest things I saw was a $5.00 talking bear. One version says the Lord's Prayer, and the other version has wings and sings "Jesus Loves Me." They have so many bears they are literally hanging from the ceiling. They have a lot of framed pictures. Some are, shall we say, interesting. But others are really nice, and like everything in that store, the price is right. Over at Cedar Lake Nursing Services someone has made some great gift baskets you might want to check out. And the Athens Pilot Club has left some whole shelled pecans there for sale. Some cook (or pecan lover) might be proud to get those. Any guy would love one of Ron Speed's Adventure trips for Christmas. I'll try to get some more information on that by next week. I have some more things to tell you about, but I'm beginning to think how awful it would be if I skip something I should have discovered. So, if you have Christmas gifts for sale, or if you know of anybody you think I should mention, please give me a call. I may already have them on my list, but what if I don't? I sure want to include everybody. I went back to Berry Lumber because I knew they'd have some sort of good Christmas gift special in December. Sure enough, they have a multi- tool package of two pock- etknives, two fancy pliers things, and a flashlight, all for $9.98, just half of its original price. They also have an electric heater for $14.95. One of them is under my desk as I write this, keeping my feet toasty, I also went back to Sagebrush Em- porium because I didn't think our pic- tures did them jus- tice last week. How. about a life size cowboy or an Indian to hang out in your living room or ride around with you? I think she said they were just 300.00. You could treat somebody to some tanning sessions. They ,have tanning beds at Surtsations. You,can also get i tattoos there. Those start at $40. and go way up. I took Ruby Davis' ad- vice and went to see what they had at Just Hair. I found some wall hangings made of old windows with pretty scenes painted on them, and some more great wreaths. i ...All About The House Not acreature was stirring, not even a mouse!
