proaching marriage of their children,

The wedding is planned for January
TYLER, TEXAS ---- The announ-
cement of plans to change the name of
Gulf States--United Telephone Com-
pany to United Telephone Company of
Texas, Inc. has been made by'company
president, Joe Gibson.
The official date of the change is
January 1, 1982.
"We are very pleased to acquire the
name United Telephone Company of
Texas, because it better identifies Gulf
States as part of the United Telephone
System," Gibson said.
The United Telephone System, with
more than two dozen operating com-
panies, is America's third largest
telephone system.
The company has been known as Gulf
States since its christening of the title
sons
Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Johnson of Skeels.
Malakoff will be honored with an open W.M. Johnson and the
house reception Sunday, Jan. 3, 1982, Skains were married Dec. 31,
from 2 until 5 p.m. in honor of their 50th Glendale, Texas. They
wedding anniversary. The reception Groveton to Malakoff in June,
will be held at the First Baptist Church The couple has six
of Malakoff. granddaughters.

We can stand on a high mountain 0¢ on top of a tall building, and look down and
we feel dizzy and are afraid to get too close to edge, even if it may not be but a few
hundred feet to the bottom. Why? We're afraid we might fall.
But we are never afraid when we gaze at the heavens, though our eyes may range
over much greeter heights. Why? Because we cannot fall upward. There is however,
a danpr of falling down and heing dashed to pieces. When we look up to God, we
fool we are safe in him and there is no danpr what ever. But if we turn our face
from him, we are filled with fear least we fall down from reality and be broken to
pieces.
The apostle Peter tells us some things to add to our faith, and if we lack these
things we are blind, and have forgotten we were purpd from our sins, but if we do
these things we shall never fall. (2 Pet. 1:5-10) Please read: "1 Cur. 10:12, TAKE
